KC Certification-EMC | RF | SAR

Korea Certification EMC testing typically covers the majority of electronic products marketed in Korea, and depending on the product's wireless functions, either RF or SAR testing may be required. This is a mandatory certification system operated by RRA and is divided into three parts: Certification of Conformity, Registration of Conformity, and Interim of Conformity. All products manufactured, imported, and sold in Korea shall be approved according to related procedures. 



 ▮ Certification of Conformity 

Equipment that can harm Korea's radio environment or broadcasting communication network, as well as those whose normal operation can cause significant electromagnetic disturbances and/or be affected by radio waves, are subject to the certification of conformity. Products with wireless functions fall under this category. This includes 5G NR, LTE, MPR and more. 


▮ Registration of Conformity 

Broadcasting and communication equipment (e.g. Wi-Fi, BT, SRD) that is not subject to the certification of conformity and most of the products without wireless functions fall under this category. There are two types of registration of conformity: registration via a designated testing laboratory or registration through self-testing. This includes most electric/electronic products including home appliances, industrial equipment. 


 ▮ Interim of Conformity

If there are no criteria for assessing the conformity of the broadcasting and communication equipment or if it is difficult to assess the conformity for whatever reason, the conformity can be assessed using domestic and international standards, specifications, or technical regulations.

MSIT, Revises and Enforces Enforcement Decree of Radio Act to Improve Radio Regulations

  Freepik The Ministry of Science and ICT announced that the revised Radio Wave Act Enforcement Decree, which relaxes regulations on radio wave utilization, will come into effect from March 26th. The main contents of the revised Radio Wave Act Enforcement Decree are as follows. 1. The full exemption of spectrum usage fees for small and medium-sized MVNOs (Mobile Virtual Network Operators) has been extended until 2024. Starting from 2025, spectrum usage fees will be gradually imposed. 2. The Unified Wireless Station Inspection Schedule System will be implemented. KC EMC | Changes to KC ID Applicant Codes

  As of July 24, 2024, the applicant identification codes for the KC ID in electromagnetic certification have been updated. These codes, previously fixed at 3 digits, have been modified to accommodate both 3 and 4-digit formats.
