Automotive electric/electronic components, either built-in or retailed aftermarket, can be marketed in Korea if they satisfy the standards specified in the notification, including their wireless functions, if available. The certification procedure is comprised of two parts: Certification of Conformity and Registration of Conformity.

▮ Certification of Conformity

Equipment that can harm Korea's radio environment or broadcasting communication network, as well as those whose normal operation can cause significant electromagnetic disturbances and/or be affected by radio waves, are subject to the certification of conformity. Products with wireless functions fall under this category. This includes electric/electronic components with 5G NR, LTE and other wireless functions

▮ Registration of Conformity

Broadcasting and communication equipment (e.g. Wi-Fi, BT, SRD) that is not subject to the certification of conformity and most of the products without wireless functions fall under this category. There are two types of registration of conformity: registration via a designated testing laboratory or registration through self-testing. This includes electric/electronic components with wireless functions, such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and those without wireless functions.
