KC Certification-Product Safety 

Product safety certification, which generally applies to consumer products with over 30 Vac or 42 Vdc, is divided into three parts: Safety Certification, Safety Confirmation, and Supplier’s Declaration of Conformity. For products manufactured overseas, a CB test report and certificate is accepted to shorten the assessment period.



 ▮ Safety Certification

Product safety is verified through product testing and factory inspections. There are only three certification bodies that offer tests for product safety.

 

▪ Regular factory inspections

This is a follow-up management system provided by certification bodies to ensure that safety-certified products continue to uphold their safety criteria. It consists of product testing and factory inspections every 2 years. A single product model from a line of safety-certified products is subject to the testing.

 

▪ Products subject to safety certification

Vacuum cleaner, washing machine, iron, blender, DC power supply (including AC adapters), etc. 



 ▮ Safety Confirmation

Product safety is verified through product testing from testing laboratories, without requiring a factory inspection. This requires a confirmation letter of declaration issued by a certification body

 

▪ Products subject to safety confirmation

Dishwasher, dish dryer, water purifier, dehumidifier, air purifier, TV, monitor, printer, projector, laptop, battery, etc.




 ▮Supplier’s Declaration of Conformity (SDoC)

A domestic manufacturer or an importer (for overseas manufacturers) can conduct self-tests or apply third-party testing to ensure that each product model complies with appropriate technical standards.

▪ Products subject to SDoC

DC power supplied air purifier, radio receiver, CCTV camera, amplifier, electronic instrument, wireless microphone, IP router, cellphone, fax machine, etc.

  Freepik The Ministry of Science and ICT announced that the revised Radio Wave Act Enforcement Decree, which relaxes regulations on radio wave utilization, will come into effect from March 26th. The main contents of the revised Radio Wave Act Enforcement Decree are as follows. 1. These codes, previously fixed at 3 digits, have been modified to accommodate both 3 and 4-digit formats.
