The Certification of Recycled Material Usage in Products Becomes Possible
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy
held a meeting on November 16 at the Seongil Hi-Tech Gunsan Plant for companies
participating in the pilot project for the recycled material certification
system.
EU and other advanced nations are promoting
mandatory regulations on the use of recycled materials, particularly for
batteries and plastic products. This is expected to significantly increase the
demand for certification of recycled material usage among South Korean export
companies. However, the absence of a domestic certification system has led
businesses to rely on foreign certifications.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy
is developing a certification system to trace the use of recycled materials
from raw materials to final products. The pilot project, initiated this year,
involves five products, including battery materials and home appliances like
refrigerators, TVs, washing machines, and soundbars.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy
aims to align the recycled material certification system with international
standards, utilizing domestic IT capabilities for increased convenience and
reliability.
