The Ministry of Science and ICT hosted the
launch ceremony of the Global Association for Advanced Air Mobility (G3AM), the
world's first international factual standardization organization for Advanced
Air Mobility (AAM), on May 14 in Seoul.
Advanced air traffic refers to aviation transportation that encompasses urban
air traffic focused on short distances and regional air traffic focused on
medium to long distances. It is a technology that is garnering attention as a
future mode of transportation, particularly for expanding transportation rights
and addressing environmental issues associated with existing modes of
transportation.
G3AM, launching today, is an international
organization established by Korean experts to create, maintain, and manage new
standards in areas such as information sharing, traffic management, and
essential navigation performance. It aims to promote factual standardization to
ensure systems are interoperable and compatible across different technologies
and regions.
At the commemorative conference for the
launch, attendees can learn about successful demonstration cases of Korean
Urban Air Mobility (K-UAM), the latest developments in next-generation electric
vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and Advanced Aerial Vehicles
(AAV), trends in Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) project execution, and the current
state of development for vertiport infrastructure.
