45 Overseas Direct-Purchase Products Fail to Meet KC Certification Standards

The Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS) recently inspected 258 overseas direct-purchase products, including electrical appliances, household goods, and children's items, anticipated to see increased demand during the winter season. Their findings revealed that 45 products (17%) failed to comply with Korea’s domestic safety standards—a significant gap compared to the domestic product non-compliance rate of 5.8%.

Key items found to be non-compliant included electric stoves, foot warmers, electric cushions, DC power supplies, children's toys, and textiles. In response, KATS has publicly listed details of these products on the Product Safety Information Portal and asked overseas online platforms to block their sale. Consumers are also advised to avoid purchasing uncertified overseas products, as these may pose safety risks.
