The Self-Conformity Verification System has been implemented following the enforcement of the Radio Waves Act on July 24, 2024.

1. What is the Self-Conformity Verification System?

Self-Conformity Verification is a system that allows manufacturers, importers, or sellers to conduct conformity assessment tests on products with low radio wave risk by themselves or through a testing agency, confirm compliance, and then prepare and manage a Self-Conformity Verification Declaration, which is disclosed on the RRA website, enabling the immediate release of the products.

2. What products are subject to Self-Conformity Verification?

• Household appliances, power tools, audio devices, video devices, and office equipment that operate on USB or battery power

• Lighting equipment

• Measuring, inspection, and testing instruments

3. Which institutions can conduct tests for Self-Conformity Verification products?

• Testing institutions designated under the Radio Waves Act (including those designated under the MRA)

• Self-testing by the self-verifying party

• Testing institutions that meet the ISO/IEC 17025 standard

4. Can products certified with CE or FCC also undergo Self-Conformity Verification?

Simply having foreign certifications like CE or FCC does not suffice for Self-Conformity Verification. A test report demonstrating that the product has been tested to comply with domestic technical standards is required for the verification to be valid.

5. How is the Self-Conformity Verification Declaration prepared?

The Self-Conformity Verification Declaration is completed according to the prescribed form by entering relevant information such as the equipment name, model number, external photos, and applicable conformity assessment criteria, and then signed and stamped by the representative or stamped with the company seal.

The Self-Conformity Verification Declaration is a document prepared and maintained by the self-verifying party.

The Self-Conformity Verification Declaration must be retained for 5 years after the cessation of the product’s manufacturing, import, or sale.

6. How is Self-Conformity Verification disclosed?

The fact of Self-Conformity Verification must be disclosed on the National Radio Research Agency (RRA) website.

7. What if additional model names, manufacturers, or manufacturing countries are added to a product under Self-Conformity Verification?

If there are any changes to the product, the Self-Conformity Verification Declaration must be revised to reflect the updated information, retained, and the changes must be disclosed on the National Radio Research Agency (RRA) website.

8. What should be done if the sale of a product under Self-Conformity Verification is discontinued?

If the product’s manufacturing, import, or sale is discontinued, the Self-Conformity Verification must be terminated through the National Radio Research Agency (RRA) website.
