Raised RF Power Limits for 6 GHz Indoor Wi-Fi in Korea (Effective Immediately)

To support the advancement of wireless communication technologies and the development of new industrial infrastructure, the current unlicensed wireless equipment ( Radio equipment for radio stations that can be established without reporting ) has been partially revised under Notification No. 2026-9 . The amendment relaxes the indoor RF power limits for wireless access systems, including Wi-Fi devices operating in the 6   GHz frequency band. The changes took effect immediately upon promulgation on   February   10,   2026. Korea Proposes Raising RF Power Limits for 6 GHz Wi Fi

On January 8, 2026, the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) issued Announcement No.2026-16 , proposing an amendment to the current MSIT Notification of unlicensed wireless equipment . The amendment aims to ease the RF power limits for the 6   GHz frequency band used by the latest Wi-Fi technologies. Public opinions will be received until January 28, 2026. Key proposed change Increasing indoor RF power for 6 GHz frequency band in wireless devices for wireless access systems, including Wi-Fi.
