Korea Updates EMC Standards for PSD Sensors, Effective July 2026

Image
On December 31, 2025, the National Radio Research Agency (RRA) issued Notification No. 2025-22 , amending part of the EMC standards as a public safety measure in response to malfunction issues of platform screen door (PSD) sensors caused by broadband 5G mobile communication signals. The amendment aims to ensure the broadband radiation immunity of PSD laser sensors (or LiDAR sensors). This notification will take effect on July 1, 2026. Key Amendment •   Addition of broadband radiated RF electromagnetic field immunity criteria for enclosure ports (equipment under test) in multimedia equipment EMC standards. Test item Test condition Unit Test method Performance criterion Remarks Broadband radiated RF electromagnetic field 3400 ~ 3700 MHz Upon formal establishment of the national standard (KS C IEC 61000-4-41), the relevant standard will be applied. Korea Updates SAR Measurement Standards for April 2026

Image
On December 5, 2025, the National Radio Research Agency (RRA) issued a notification of a partial revision to the SAR measurement standards. The current SAR measuring procedures, KS C 3370-1 and KS C 3370-2, will be integrated into a new standard, KS C 3350, which closely aligns with IEC/IEEE 62209-1528:2020. This new SAR standard will take effect on April 1, 2026. Revisions to SAR Measuring Procedures Previous Standard: KS C 3370-1 (based on IEC 62209-1) and KS C 3370-2 (based on IEC 62209-2) Revised Standard: KS C 3350 The integration into KS C 3350 is expected to reduce inconsistencies that previously arose from using the two separate standards.
