MFDS Launches Pilot Project for Safety Management Certification of Food Equipment
Safety Management Certification for Food Equipment - Cooking Robots |
Starting November 1, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) will initiate a pilot project for the Safety Management Certification for Food Equipment. This program is designed to enhance hygiene and safety standards for automated food equipment, including popular cooking robots. By incorporating core elements of international standards like NSF, the project aims to support the growth and safety of the domestic cooking robot industry and promote its entry into the global market.
How to Get Certified
Manufacturers seeking certification can apply through the Korea Agency of HACCP Accreditation and Services (KAHAS), selecting their preferred assessment body. Once they pass a compliance assessment, they will be issued a certificate, allowing them to display the certification mark on their products—an important indicator of quality and safety compliance.
Boosting Global Reach
A standout benefit of this project is the added international visibility for certified products, which will be listed on the U.S. websites of NSF and UL Solutions. With ongoing efforts to establish mutual recognition of standards between Korea and the U.S., this project will build international credibility, opening doors for the domestic cooking robot industry to expand its global footprint.
To sell cooking robots in Korea, KC certification is essential.
