Korea Issues Recall Orders for 39 Unsafe Products This Winter
The Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS) has taken action to protect consumers as demand rises for winter products such as electric pads and oil heaters. Following safety inspections on 1,019 electrical, household, and children’s items across 68 categories, 39 products were found to fail safety standards and have been recalled.
What Are the Recalled Products?
- Electrical Items:
Electric pads, heating pads, mats, and blankets were identified as fire hazards.
- Household Goods:
Hazardous items include an oil heater with fire risks.
- Children’s Products:
Unsafe items include infant textiles with safety issues like non-compliant cords or harmful chemicals, and toys containing lead and phthalates.
Measures to Block Distribution
To ensure these products are removed from the market, KATS has disclosed detailed information on the Product Safety Information Center and Consumer24. Furthermore, the products have been registered in the Hazardous Product Sales Blocking System, a network connected to over 250,000 retail stores and online platforms nationwide.
