Korea Tightens Energy Efficiency Standards for Clothes Dryers and Household Gas Boilers from Oct. 2026
Korea will strengthen energy efficiency standards for clothes dryers and household gas boilers, effective October 1, 2026, as part of efforts to improve its energy efficiency management system. This amendment aims to promote energy conservation, with the key changes outlined below. Key Changes ① Clothes Dryers Both the energy efficiency rating criteria and the Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) will be strengthened. Even models that have already been certified for the Korean market may require recertification if they do not meet the new requirements. ② Household Gas Boilers The energy efficiency management system will be changed. Previously, products were classified by grade, but under the new system, only products that meet the Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) will be permitted for sale.
