Korea Expands KC Safety Scope for High-Power EV Chargers
Korea is moving to revise safety standards related to electric vehicle (EV) chargers. The Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS) has issued an administrative announcement on proposed amendments to the Enforcement Regulations of the Electrical Appliances and Consumer Products Safety Control Act ( Announcement No. 2026-163 ), and public comments on the proposal will be accepted until July 6, 2026. This revision reflects the increasing demand for high-capacity and ultra-fast charging driven by the expansion of EV adoption and technological advancements, and aims to expand the certification scope for EV chargers in line with revisions to international standards.
