Amendment to the Enforcement Decree of the Automobile Management Act in Korea for Vehicle Cybersecurity


On February 21, 2025, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) issued a legislative notice for partial amendments to the Enforcement Decree of the Automobile Management Act. This amendment aims to strengthen security against cyberattacks in response to the rapid advancement of software-based technologies in automobiles.

Main Contents
  • Specifies cases where vehicle operation may be restricted due to a severe cyberattack or threat.
  • Establishes criteria for imposing surcharges and fines for non-compliance with automobile software update requirements.

Public comments are open until April 2, 2025.
