When Will the Revised Electrical
Appliance Safety Standards Take Effect?
The revised electrical appliance safety
standards take effect on July 20, 2026.
However, to allow manufacturers and
importers sufficient time to adapt to the revised requirements, a one-year
transition period has been provided during which the previous safety standards
may continue to be applied until July 20, 2027.
During this transition period, companies
may choose to comply with either the previous or the revised safety standards.
After the transition period ends, compliance with the revised safety standards
will become mandatory.
Manufacturers and importers planning to
place electrical appliances on the Korean market should review the revised
standards during the transition period and prepare for full compliance before
the revised requirements become mandatory.
