Korea Tightens Energy Efficiency Standards for Clothes Dryers and Household Gas Boilers from Oct. 2026
Key Changes
① Clothes Dryers
- Both the
energy efficiency rating criteria and the Minimum Energy Performance
Standards (MEPS) will be strengthened.
- Even
models that have already been certified for the Korean market may require
recertification if they do not meet the new requirements.
② Household Gas Boilers
- The
energy efficiency management system will be changed. Previously, products
were classified by grade, but under the new system, only products that
meet the Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) will be permitted for
sale.
- The MEPS
requirements will also be raised, resulting in stricter efficiency
standards.

- Applicable

dryers and household gas boilers manufactured on or after October 1, 2026

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q. Are models that have already been
certified affected by this amendment?
A. Yes. Even models that have already been
certified for the Korean market may require recertification if they do not meet
the new requirements.
Q. Do the new requirements also apply to
products manufactured overseas and imported into Korea?
A. Yes. However, the applicable date is
based on the date of manufacture, not the customs clearance date or shipping
date. In other words, products manufactured on or after October 1, 2026 will be
subject to the new requirements regardless of when they are imported into
Korea.
