Korea Proposes Raising RF Power Limits for 6 GHz Wi Fi
On
January 8, 2026, the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) issued Announcement No.
2026-16, proposing an amendment to the current MSIT Notification of unlicensed
wireless equipment. The amendment aims to ease the RF power limits for the
6 GHz frequency
band used by the latest Wi-Fi technologies.
Public
opinions will be received until January 28, 2026.
Key
proposed change
Increasing
indoor RF power for 6 GHz frequency band in wireless devices for wireless
access systems, including Wi-Fi.
Before Amendment
Frequency Band (㎒) | Antenna Input Power Density or EIRP | Remark |
5925 ∼ 6425 | 500 mW or less | ※ Wireless devices used inside subway train cars ※ Including antenna absolute gain |
5925 ∼ 7125 | 500 mW or less | ※ Wireless devices used inside buildings ※ Including antenna absolute gain |

After Amendment
Frequency Band (㎒) | Antenna Input Power Density or EIRP | Remark |
5925 ∼ 6425 | 1 W or less | ※ Wireless devices used inside subway train cars ※ Including antenna absolute gain |
5925 ∼ 6425 | 1 W or less | ※ Wireless devices used inside buildings ※ Including antenna absolute gain |
6425 ~ 7125 | 500 mW or less |
