SK On and Dankook University Collaborate on Advanced Solid Oxide Electrolytes for Safer and More Efficient Batteries.
Battery | KC Mark Korea Certification
SK On partnered with Dankook University's Professor Park Hee-jung to
co-develop solid oxide electrolytes, resulting in a cover paper in the
international journal 'Advanced Functional Materials' and patent applications
filed both domestically and internationally.
The research team improved lithium-ion conductivity by 70% compared
to existing solutions. They achieved this by precisely controlling the
microstructure of LLZO (Li-La-Zr-O) technology. Moreover, this solid oxide
electrolyte demonstrated outstanding stability, even after prolonged exposure
to air.
It's anticipated that this solid oxide electrolyte can also be used
in the development of polymer-oxide composite all-solid-state batteries. When
applied to batteries, it's expected to enhance the safety and long-range
driving capabilities of electric vehicles.
