On May 27, 2024, the National Radio Research Agency announced an administrative notice regarding the partial revision of the notification on the designation and management of testing institutions for broadcasting and communication equipment. 

Public comments on this revision will be accepted until June 17, 2024, and the revised notification is expected to be issued in July.


• The conditions for the designation of MRA testing institutions will be relaxed. The requirement that only institutions designated as domestic testing institutions can be designated as MRA testing institutions will be revised so that institutions can be designated as MRA testing institutions without being designated as domestic testing institutions.

• The qualifications for technical managers and testers for wire-based internet protocol-based video information processing device testing items (118) will be relaxed to accept testing experience in the entire field, not just in the wire field.

• A notification procedure for the document review plan of designated testing institutions will be established. The review procedure will be improved by creating a document review plan and notifying the applicant institution of the established plan at least 7 days before the start of the document review.

• It will be revised to require that any designation, suspension, abolition, or administrative disposition of designated testing institutions be made public on the website of the National Radio Research Agency.

• It will be improved to require designated testing institutions to immediately apply as soon as the reason arises if they intend to suspend testing operations for more than one month or abolish a part of their operations.

• The system will be relaxed to allow the head of the designated testing institution to directly set the performance inspection cycle of the equipment required for conformity assessment testing operations.
