Korea Leads International Standards for AI Safety and Reliability

The Ministry of Science and ICT announced that the data quality standards for AI safety and reliability, developed by Korea, have been approved as an international standard (ISO/IEC 5259-1:2024) by ISO/IEC JTC 1 SC 42.

The new standard is part of the "Data Quality Standards for Data Analytics and Machine Learning (ISO/IEC 5259)" series by SC42 WG2. It provides tools and methods for organizations to ensure data quality in AI development and consists of six parts, offering consistent terminology and best practices.

Korean researchers led the development of "Part 1: Overview and Terminology, Examples," which provides an overview of data quality, common concepts, measurement, management requirements, and procedures to aid in understanding and applying the data quality standards series.

The researchers plan to continue developing international standards for AI safety and reliability by collaborating with SC42 member countries and working groups, and domestic experts.
