Updates to High-Efficiency Energy Equipment Regulations and Standards in Korea

Updates to High-Efficiency Energy Equipment Regulations

1. Extension of Certification Validity

The validity period for High-Efficiency Energy Equipment Certification and Performance Test Reports has been extended from 3 years to 4 years.

2. New Provisions for Excluded Items

New supplementary provisions have been established for items excluded from certification due to the planned transfer of the efficiency rating system for tubular LED lamps (external converter type) and large pumps (WA-C5-G2). These changes will be effective from January 1, 2025.

3. Changes to EV Charging Equipment Regulations

- Modification of Capacity Calculation: The KC certification rated capacity calculation method is being changed from input to output, resulting in a revised capacity range and the introduction of a new application system (Tesla coupler type).

- Clarification of Efficiency Testing Standards: The input/output measurement locations and points (maximum voltage, maximum current) for efficiency testing are now clearly defined.

4. Clarification and Updates for Derivative Models

The definition of derivative models has been clarified, and the list of high-efficiency energy equipment testing institutions has been updated.
