From October 23 to 26, RoboWorld 2024, Korea’s largest robotics industry exhibition, will take place in Goyang, showcasing the latest innovations in robotics technology across 880 booths with the participation of 291 companies and organizations.


AI-Integrated Robots Steal the Show

The highlight of this year’s exhibition is intelligent robots integrated with AI, which demonstrate the future of robotics across various industries.

  • A-robot’s Humanoid: Demonstrated the ability to deliver candy in specific colors based on verbal commands using AI-powered voice and object recognition.
  • ROBOTIS’s Indoor Delivery Robot: Showcased autonomous mobility by manipulating elevators and security doors using vision AI and a robotic arm, expanding its operational capabilities.
  • Intigrit’s Hotel Service Robot: Powered by a large language model, this robot can engage in conversations with customers and assist with check-out services at hotels.

Key Robotic Component Localization in Focus

Several companies are exhibiting localized key robotic components, highlighting Korea’s advancements in component manufacturing.

  • TESOLLO: Developed a gripper that adjusts its shape based on the position and shape of objects, using vision AI for precision handling.
  • SPG: Successfully localized reducer products, which are used in industrial robots, humanoids, and various other robot types.


Government’s Support for Robotics Industry Growth

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy has outlined a plan to boost Korea’s robotics industry, positioning it as a future growth engine for exports. Key initiatives include:

  • AI Autonomous Manufacturing Leading Project to drive the development of manufacturing robots.
  • Humanoid Initiative to promote advancements in humanoid robotics.
  • Comprehensive reform of the Intelligent Robots Act to align regulations with emerging market trends and nurture new industries.

MSIT, Revises and Enforces Enforcement Decree of Radio Act to Improve Radio Regulations

  Freepik The Ministry of Science and ICT announced that the revised Radio Wave Act Enforcement Decree, which relaxes regulations on radio wave utilization, will come into effect from March 26th. The main contents of the revised Radio Wave Act Enforcement Decree are as follows. 1. The full exemption of spectrum usage fees for small and medium-sized MVNOs (Mobile Virtual Network Operators) has been extended until 2024. Starting from 2025, spectrum usage fees will be gradually imposed. 2. The Unified Wireless Station Inspection Schedule System will be implemented. Multiple wireless stations located in the same installation site or operated by the same facility owner with different inspection schedules will be improved to allow for joint regular inspections. 3.   As of July 24, 2024, the applicant identification codes for the KC ID in electromagnetic certification have been updated. These codes, previously fixed at 3 digits, have been modified to accommodate both 3 and 4-digit formats.
