KATS Updates KC Safety Standards for 23 Types of Electrical Appliances


The Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS) revised the safety standards to align with international agreements on electrical appliance safety management (WTO/TBT, IECEE).


Key Standards Affected Include:

  • KC 60335 series (e.g., spin extractors, dishwashers, toasters, kitchen machines, battery chargers)
  • Commercial appliances (e.g., microwave ovens, vending machines)
  • Motor-operated tools (e.g., saws, concrete vibrators)
  • Lighting and lamp controlgear (e.g., fluorescent lamps, electronic convertors)
  • Electrical accessories (e.g., plugs, cord sets)

Effective Date:
This notification is effective immediately. The previous standards (Notification No. 2025-088) will remain valid in parallel until May 22, 2026.
