Proposed ICT Standards Update from RRA – September 2025

On September 1, 2025, the National Radio Research Agency (RRA) announced the proposed enactment, revision, and repeal of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Standards.


Enactments (2)

  • KS C IEC 61000-4-41: Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) – Part 4-41: Testing and measurement techniques – Broadband radiated immunity tests
  • KS C IEC 61000-5-6: Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) – Part 5-6: Installation and mitigation guidelines – Mitigation of external EM influences


Revisions (sample 2 of 8)

  • KS R ISO 11451-1: Road vehicles — Vehicle test methods for electrical disturbances from narrowband radiated electromagnetic energy – Part 1: General principles and terminology
  • KS C IEC 61000-4-12: Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) – Part 4-12: Testing and measurement techniques – Ring wave immunity test


Repeals (2)

  • KS C CISPR 20: Sound and television broadcast receivers and associated equipment – Immunity characteristics – Limits and methods of measurement

South Korea Mandates Fire Extinguishers in All Vehicles with Five or More Seats

  Vehicle fire extinguisher Starting December 1, 2024, all vehicles with five or more seats must be equipped with a "vehicle-compatible" fire extinguisher. This regulation follows the amendment to the Fire Facilities Installation and Management Act, which expands the requirement for installing fire extinguishers in vehicles. Applicable Vehicles • Vehicles manufactured, imported, or sold after December 1 • Vehicles newly registered under Article 6 of the Motor Vehicle Management Act due to a change in ownership Note: This regulation does not apply retroactively to vehicles already registered.
