Korea Updates EMC Standards for PSD Sensors, Effective July 2026

On December 31, 2025, the National Radio Research Agency (RRA) issued Notification No. 2025-22, amending part of the EMC standards as a public safety measure in response to malfunction issues of platform screen door (PSD) sensors caused by broadband 5G mobile communication signals. The amendment aims to ensure the broadband radiation immunity of PSD laser sensors (or LiDAR sensors).


This notification will take effect on July 1, 2026.

Upon formal establishment of the national standard (KS C IEC 61000-4-41), the relevant standard will be applied.

This requirement applies only to the laser sensors (or LiDAR sensors) of platform screen doors (PSDs), and one of the five test conditions (criteria) is selected and applied.

The test signal uses the 5G TM1.1 100 MHz modulated signal, and detailed information on the signal can be found in Annex K of KS C 9835.
