They officially opened the 'High-capacity Secondary Battery Fire Safety Verification Center' on September 15, 2023.   The Center will issue international test certificates, support full-cycle te

KC Certification-Energy Efficiency

Image
KC Certification-Energy Efficiency Energy efficiency is mostly applied to home and office appliances and is also voluntarily applicable to industrial products and facilities. The Energy Efficiency system is comprised of the following three programs.  ▮  MEPS (Minimum Energy Performance Standard) Program This is a mandatory program arranged to induce domestic manufacturers and importers to make and sell energy efficient products. Efficiency ratings are labeled from 1 through 5, and the minimum energy performance standard (MEPS), the lower limit of energy consumption efficiency, applies. Products that do not comply with the MEPS are prohibited from manufacturing and selling. ▪ Products subject to the MEPS program Refrigerator, washing machine, water heater/cooler, vacuum cleaner, electric fan, air purifier, AC adapter, TV, etc.   ▪ Energy consumption efficiency rating label ▮ e-Standby Program This is a mandatory program that encourages the reduction of standby power of elect

KC Certification-EMC | RF | SAR

Image
KC Certification-EMC | RF | SAR Korea Certification EMC testing typically covers the majority of electronic products marketed in Korea, and depending on the product's wireless functions, either RF or SAR testing may be required. This is a mandatory certification system operated by RRA and is divided into three parts: Certification of Conformity, Registration of Conformity, and Interim of Conformity. All products manufactured, imported, and sold in Korea shall be approved according to related procedures.   ▮  Certification of Conformity   Equipment that can harm Korea's radio environment or broadcasting communication network, as well as those whose normal operation can cause significant electromagnetic disturbances and/or be affected by radio waves, are subject to the certification of conformity. Products with wireless functions fall under this category. This includes 5G NR, LTE, MPR and more.  ▮  Registration of Conformity   Broadcasting and communication equipment (e.g.

KC Certification-Product Safety

Image
KC Certification-Product Safety  Product safety certification, which generally applies to consumer products with over 30 Vac or 42 Vdc, is divided into three parts: Safety Certification, Safety Confirmation, and Supplier’s Declaration of Conformity .  For products manufactured overseas, a CB test report and certificate is accepted to shorten the assessment period.  ▮  Safety Certification Product safety is verified through product testing and factory inspections. There are only three certification bodies that offer tests for product safety.   ▪ Regular factory inspections This is a follow-up management system provided by certification bodies to ensure that safety-certified products continue to uphold their safety criteria. It consists of product testing and factory inspections every 2 years. A single product model from a line of safety-certified products is subject to the testing.   ▪ Products subject to safety certification Vacuum cleaner, wa

SK On and Dankook University Collaborate on Advanced Solid Oxide Electrolytes for Safer and More Efficient Batteries. Battery | KC Mark Korea Certification SK On partnered with Dankook University's Professor Park Hee-jung to co-develop solid oxide electrolytes, resulting in a cover paper in the international journal 'Advanced Functional Materials' and patent applications filed both domestically and internationally.   The research team improved lithium-ion conductivity by 70% compared to existing solutions. They achieved this by precisely controlling the microstructure of LLZO (Li-La-Zr-O) technology. Moreover, this solid oxide electrolyte demonstrated outstanding stability, even after prolonged exposure to air.   It's anticipated that this solid oxide electrolyte can also be used in the development of polymer-oxide composite all-solid-state batteries. When applied to batteries, it's expected to enhance the safety and long-range driving capabilities of elec
